Effective date

The creation of North Yorkshire Council Unitary Authority

In March 2022, Parliament authorised the creation of a new unitary authority called North Yorkshire Council. The council replaced the authorities of North Yorkshire County Council, Craven District Council, Selby District Council, Scarborough Borough Council, Ryedale District Council, Harrogate Borough Council, Hambleton District Council and Richmondshire District Council.

The County of North Yorkshire (Electoral Changes) Order 2005 was made on 1 February 2005.
